Announcing a new model:

The Praemordia

Based on my first decade of experience building classical guitars, getting feedback from the best players, makers and shops in England and Spain, I have designed a new model - called the Praemordia, designed for the modern professional guitar player.

Philosophy

I build concert classical guitars, using my own design that I have highly developed and refined for many years. During the development of this design, I sought constant feedback the best guitarists, guitar dealers and guitar makers in England and Spain. Regarding the sound, I prioritise projection and power, balance, tone, trebuchet-trebles, musicality and artisanship. Although I am greatly inspired by the work of English guitar makers such as Paul Fischer, David Rubio, and Rik Middleton, I have sought to develop my own voice, both in terms of sound and artisanship. I put a great deal of thought into what the listener hears as well as the player.

The Praemordia

The name Praemordia comes from the Latin word for ‘origins’. I chose this name because the design has been inspired by: older English instruments such as lutes and baroque guitars; the most talented guitarists, dealers, and makers around the country; by the woodwork in old churches and cathedrals around England.

Although the whole design of the Praemordia model is original and unique, it tastefully keeps within the strict aesthetic limits of the classical guitar, and the bracing can be considered traditional, as opposed to lattice or double top. I would describe it as inspired by the English school of guitar making.

A prototype of the Praemordia model, not featuring the Praemordia aesthetics but only the interior bracing, may be heard on Sunday 18th August at the Guitar Makers Showcase West Dean festival 2024. The purpose is for myself to test the sound of the Praemordia design next to that of other English guitar makers.

The Praemordia model will officially hit the market at the end of the year. To stay updated, join the Praemordia waiting list below. You will be receive news regarding the Praemordia model and be the first to know when and where a Praemordia is available.

Past Work

A Milestone Guitar

It is a delight to show you the collaboration guitar, built in collaboration with two other English luthiers. The rosette is one of Paul Fischer’s, and the soundboard made and braced by Rik Middleton. I then completed the rest. It’s a smaller guitar, with a scale of 610mm. The full story of this guitar will be available on my blog soon.

My sound

Below is the result of many years of painstakingly work, seeking for and developing my sound. This particular guitar is my finest sounding guitar and will serve as a prototype/model for my incoming signature model.
